LINDA'S MUSIC

Above photos taken from the 'Flaming Pie' Sessions

The first ever song Linda wrote was “Seaside Woman” written on a 1971 holiday in Barbados and Jamaica. It was performed during Wings 1971-1973 tours. Every few years Linda would write another solo piece and have it recorded. Eventually she had enough for an album so decided to test the waters by issuing “Seaside Woman” as a single. Backed with a quickly written ditty by Paul aptly titled “B Side to Seaside”. Not wanting to receive unfair criticism Linda used a neat pseudonym of “Suzie and The Red Stripes” (“Red Stripe” being a brand of local beer in Jamaica.) and issued it initially only in America. Not surprisingly the single pretty much bombed. The next year she re-issued the single under her own name but with the same result. Then 9 years later she remixed the song and put it out again but this time under her own name. Yet again it failed but it was enough to make her continue to develop a whole album of songs. Unfortunately she didn’t live to see the release of her album “Wide Prairie” which came out late in 1997. The album contained lots of Linda penned originals as well as a few nice covers. The album spanned 25 years of recordings from tracks from 1971 up until 1997. Paul has revealed there is still one more “yet to be properly recorded” Linda original. So we may have a further Linda track to cherish in the years to come.
